Windows 10 & 11 Complete ISO Archive: Download Every Build

If you are in the business of maintaining legacy hardware or managing a fleet of office PCs, you know the struggle: Microsoft really wants you on the latest version. But sometimes, the latest version breaks your specific drivers, ruins your gaming performance, or simply refuses to run on that perfectly good 2016 laptop.

Finding a clean, unmodified ISO for an older build—like the legendary Windows 10 1709 or the initial Windows 11 21H2—is a nightmare. Microsoft scrubs the official download links for old versions, leaving you at the mercy of shady torrent sites with "Pre-Activated" malware-filled ISOs.

Today, I am sharing the Technician's Archive Method. We will look at two ways to get these files: the Universal Script (for popular builds) and the UUP Dump Method (for the truly ancient, deleted builds).

Why Downgrade or Hold Back?

Why would anyone want Windows 10 Build 1607 in 2025? As someone who repairs hundreds of PCs a month, the answer is usually stability.

  • Low-End Hardware: Older builds have significantly fewer background processes. A dual-core laptop breathes easier on Build 1703 than it does on 22H2.
  • Testing Environment: Developers often need to verify if their software crashes on unpatched versions of Windows.
  • The "Feature" Removal: Windows 11 23H2 changed the Taskbar behavior in ways many users hate. Going back to 21H2 restores the classic feel.

Method 1: The Universal Script (Fastest)

For standard versions (Windows 8.1, Win 10 20H2 - 22H2, Win 11), we use a wrapper script based on Fido. This tool queries Microsoft's retail servers directly.

"Help! The list only shows the latest versions!"

The Problem: Microsoft frequently purges the direct download links for very old builds (like 1507, 1607, or 1803). If Method 1 doesn't show your desired version, Microsoft has likely cut the cord.

The Solution: Use Method 2 (UUP Dump) below. This reconstructs the ISO directly from the update servers.

Method 2: UUP Dump (The Time Machine)

This is the "Pro" way. UUP Dump is an open-source project that catalogs every file on the Windows Update server. We can use it to build a 100% official ISO for ANY version ever released.

How to generate your Legacy ISO:

1
Go to UUPDump.net. In the search bar, type your target build (e.g., Windows 10 1607).
2
Look for the Architecture amd64 (this is for standard Intel/AMD PCs). Click the link for the "Cumulative Update".
3
Choose your Language → Next → Edition (Home/Pro) → Next.
4
CRITICAL: Under "Download Method", select Download and convert to ISO. Then click "Create download package".
5
Extract the ZIP file. Right-click uup_download_windows.cmd and Run as Administrator.

Terminal Output Preview:

> Aria2c: Downloading files...
> DISM: Processing 1 of 43...
> Image Factory: Creating ISO...
> Done. Press any key to exit.

Technician's Checklist

1. Installing on Unsupported Hardware

If you are flashing Windows 11 to an old laptop (pre-2018), do not use the standard setup. Use Rufus to burn the ISO. Rufus will automatically detect the Windows 11 ISO and ask if you want to "Remove Requirement for Secure Boot and TPM 2.0". Check that box.

2. Preventing Auto-Updates

If you went through the trouble of installing Build 1809, you don't want Windows Update to force you to 22H2 immediately. Use a tool like Windows Update Blocker or disable the update service via Group Policy immediately after the first boot.

Access to these clean, original ISO files is a lifesaver for troubleshooting. Whether you use the easy Fido script or dig deep with UUP Dump, you now have the tools to fetch any version of Windows you need.
