Resetter Printer Epson L120

The Epson L120 is widely recognized as a compact, budget-friendly workhorse. It is designed to handle high-volume printing with its ink tank system. However, even the most reliable machines have scheduled maintenance protocols.

If you are reading this, your printer has likely stopped working abruptly. The indicator lights are flashing orange and green alternately, and your computer screen displays the critical message: “Service Required” or “The printer’s ink pads are at the end of their service life.”

This situation can be stressful, especially during work hours. But rest assured, your printer is not broken. It has simply triggered a software safety lock, and you can reset it yourself without visiting a service center.

Why Did This Happen? (The Logic)

To fix the issue confidently, it helps to understand the mechanism inside. Every Epson printer, including the L120, has a physical component called the Waste Ink Pad. This is an absorbent sponge that collects excess ink during printhead cleaning and initial setup.

Epson protects your desk from potential ink spills by using a digital counter. This software tracks usage and estimates when the sponge is full. When the counter hits 100%, the printer locks itself to prevent leakage.

The Fix: Since the physical sponge often still has room, we can use the Adjustment Program (Resetter) to zero out this digital counter, allowing the printer to function normally again immediately.

This utility tool interacts directly with the printer's firmware to reset maintenance counters. It is designed for Windows operating systems.

Step-by-Step: How to Reset Epson L120

Follow these instructions exactly. Do not disconnect the USB cable during this process.

  • 1

The file is compressed (ZIP). Right-click the file and select Extract All or Extract Here. Do not run the program from inside the ZIP file.

    3. Click the Initialize button.
    4. Click OK on the confirmation pop-up.

    Restart the Printer

The program will ask you to turn off the printer. Press the power button on the printer to turn it off completely. Wait 5 seconds, then turn it back on. Click OK on your screen.

Maintenance Advice

Please Note: While this software reset clears the error and lets you print immediately, the physical ink pads inside the printer still contain ink. If you are a very heavy user, consider checking the pads or installing an external waste ink bottle in the future to keep the machine clean.

Back in Action!
The flashing lights should be gone, and your Epson L120 is ready to handle your documents again. Happy printing!
